Utilizando as redes sociais, Novak Djokovic<\/strong> se dirigiu ao grande p\u00fablico australiano para explicar a lista de sugest\u00f5es enviada ao diretor do Australian Open<\/a>, Craig Tiley, que desencadeou uma enorme rea\u00e7\u00e3o negativa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Djokovic, que vem se envolvendo em uma s\u00e9rie de pol\u00eamicas nos \u00faltimos meses, sofreu duras cr\u00edticas nesta semana por parte das autoridades australianas, da opini\u00e3o p\u00fablica e at\u00e9 de seus colegas ap\u00f3s a divulga\u00e7\u00e3o de uma mensagem enviada a Tiley contendo uma lista de exig\u00eancias (confira na mat\u00e9ria: COVID-19 isola 47 jogadores inscritos no Australian Open<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O australiano Nick Kyrgios, 47\u00ba tenista do mundo, e o premier vitoriano Daniel Andrews estavam entre as p\u00fablicas que criticaram severamente os pedidos de Djokovic. Fazendo coro a seus compatriotas que foram maci\u00e7amente \u00e0s redes sociais para criticar o posicionamento do n\u00famero 1 do mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Em resposta, Novak Djokovic publicou em sua conta do Instagram uma carta endere\u00e7ada ao povo australiano, por meio da qual esclarece porque acredita que suas \u201cboas inten\u00e7\u00f5es\u201d foram \u201cmal interpretadas\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Na mensagem, o n\u00famero 1 do mundo inicia afirmando \u201cMinhas boas inten\u00e7\u00f5es para com meus colegas competidores em Melbourne foram mal interpretadas como sendo ego\u00edstas, dif\u00edceis e ingratas. Isso n\u00e3o poderia estar mais longe da verdade.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O s\u00e9rvio continuou ressaltando que poderia se sentar e n\u00e3o dizer nada sobre o tratamento dado a jogadores que n\u00e3o est\u00e3o t\u00e3o bem quanto ele e completou: \u201cNo entanto, sempre escolho fazer algo e prestar servi\u00e7o, apesar das consequ\u00eancias desafiadoras e mal-entendidos\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Conquistei meus privil\u00e9gios da maneira mais dif\u00edcil e, por esse motivo, \u00e9 muito dif\u00edcil para mim ser um mero espectador sabendo o quanto cada ajuda, gesto e palavra de boa import\u00e2ncia importavam para mim quando eu era pequeno e insignificante na hierarquia mundial\u201d escreveu o jogador para completar em seguida: “Portanto, uso minha posi\u00e7\u00e3o de privil\u00e9gio para prestar servi\u00e7o o m\u00e1ximo poss\u00edvel, onde e quando necess\u00e1rio”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Djokovic destacou que a mensagem enviada ao diretor do Australian Open, Craig Tiley, e que foi fortemente criticada n\u00e3o era nada mais do que um brainstorm <\/em>e n\u00e3o uma lista de exig\u00eancias. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Houve algumas sugest\u00f5es e ideias que recolhi de outros jogadores do nosso grupo de chat e n\u00e3o houve qualquer problema em tentar ajudar” e complementou a seguir dizendo que \u201cestava ciente de que eram baixas as chances de que qualquer uma de nossas sugest\u00f5es fosse aceita\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEu entendo que a organiza\u00e7\u00e3o de eventos esportivos internacionais durante uma pandemia representa riscos para a sa\u00fade da comunidade local e dos pr\u00f3prios jogadores\u201d declarou o s\u00e9rvio para, em seguida, afirmar que “As coisas na m\u00eddia aumentaram e houve uma impress\u00e3o geral de que os jogadores (incluindo eu) s\u00e3o ingratos, fracos e ego\u00edstas por causa de seus sentimentos desagrad\u00e1veis \u200b\u200bna quarentena”, escreveu ele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E continuou dizendo “Lamento muito que tenha chegado a esse ponto, porque sei o quanto estamos gratos. Todos viemos para a Austr\u00e1lia para competir. N\u00e3o ser capaz de treinar e se preparar antes do in\u00edcio do torneio n\u00e3o \u00e9 realmente f\u00e1cil. Nenhum de n\u00f3s jamais questionou 14 dias de quarentena, apesar do que est\u00e1 sendo dito pela m\u00eddia\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finalizou sua exposi\u00e7\u00e3o afirmando: \u201cEstou muito ansioso para jogar na frente do povo e me juntar ao frenesi do t\u00eanis e \u00e0 energia da cidade que sempre me levou a muitas vit\u00f3rias. Desejo a voc\u00eas todos sa\u00fade e amor, Novak”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\r\nAustralia,\r\n\r\nIn light of recent media and social media criticism for my letter to Craig Tiley (Tournament director of Australian Open), I would like to clarify a few things.\r\n\r\nMy good intentions for my fellow competitors in Melbourne have been miscontrued as being selfish, difficult, and ungrateful.\r\n\rThis couldn\u2019t be farther from the truth.\r\n\r\nNot every act is taken at its face value and at times when I see the aftermath of things, I do tend to ask myself if I should just sit back and enjoy my benefits instead of paying attention to other people\u2019s struggles.\r\r\nHowever, I always choose to do something and be of service despite the challenging consequences and misunderstandings.\r\n\r\nI genuinely care about my fellow players and I also understand very well how the world is run and who gets bigger and better and why.\r\n\r\nI\u2019ve earned my privileges the hard way and for that reason, it is very difficult for me to be a mere onlooker knowing how much every help, gesture and good word mattered to me when I was small and insignificant in the world pecking order.\r\n\r\nHence, I use my position of privilege to be of service as much as I can where and when needed.\r\n\r\nI have always had a very good relationship with Craig and I respect and appreciate all the effort he puts into making the Australian Open a place to look forward to coming back to each year.\r\n\r\nIn our email exchange I used an opportunity to brainstorm about potential improvements that could be made to the quarantine of players in Melbourne that were in full lockdown.\r\n\r\nThere were a few suggestions and ideas that I gathered from other players from our chat group and there was no harm intended to try and help.\r\n\r\nI was aware that the chanceswere low that any of our suggestions would be accepted, just like my request to quarantine with my team in Melbourne instead os Adelaide, was denied prior to our travel, because of the strict government regulations. Since I coudn\u2019t be with other players in Melbourne, I made myself available to them if needed.\r\n\r\nI understand that organizing international sporting events during a pandemic poses health risks to the local community and to the players themselves.\r\n\r\nTherefore, I would like to express my full gratitude to Tennis Australia, the Australian Government and local citizens for being willing to take this risk with us for the love of the game and the multiple oppotunities it brings to the economy of the country and its people.\r\n\r\nWe do hope that we will be able to nurture our bodies and be ready for the mental and physical endurance and strength tests that are ahead of us once the competition starts.\r\n\r\nThings in the media escalated and there was a general impression that the players (including myself) are ungrateful, weak and selfish because of their unpleasant feelings in quarantine.\r\n\r\nI am very sorry that it has come to that because I do know how grateful many are. We all came to Australia to compete.\r\n\r\nNot being able to train and prepare before the tournament starts is really not easy. None of us ever questioned 14 days of quarantine despite what is being said by media outlets.\r\n\r\nI am very much looking forward to playing in front of the people and joining the tennis frenzy and energy of the city that has always carried me towards many victories.\r I am also looking forward to seeing all my fellow players together in Melbourne.\r\n\r\nI am blown away by the numerous messages of gratitude and love that I have received during these past few days.\r\n\r\nWishing you all health and love,\r\n\r\nNovak<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
